Together with our suppliers – Carpets Inter, Edwardstown Carpets and Tai Ping – we are continually expanding our sustainability initiatives. From Design for Sustainability and eco-innovation, through to cleaner production, carbon reduction and meaningful Product Stewardship services, above left D+A is striving to meet the expectations of environmentally aware designers, specifiers and facility managers. This is further underpinned by our collaborative work with the Melbourne office of WSP Environment & Energy, one of the world’s leading sustainability consulting firms.
Sustainability is very much about meeting social and environmental needs at multiple levels without compromising product functionality, visual quality, durability and effective asset management. EcoSoft® – our post-consumer recycled PET carpet tile backing, is pure testament of how we have successfully connected environmental performance, underfoot comfort and commercial benefit. The EcoSoft® backing system is made from a combination of 80% post-consumer recycled PET and 5-10% post industrial recycled PET … all sourced from from discarded drink bottles.
In keeping with the accountability and transparency of our environmental programs the recycled content of EcoSoft® has been independently audited.
above left D+A have also achieved environmental certification for key products under the Carpet Institute of Australia (CIAL) Environmental Certification Scheme (ECS), recognised in GBCA’s Green Star. This includes: ACCS carpet quality certification, VOC limits, chemical bans and restrictions, manufacturing compliance, and Product Stewardship.
Our products are produced under environmental programs that include Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001 certified) and have achieved platinum NSF/ANSI 140 certification in the US, one of the most stringent certifications that includes social impacts and a decade of environmental data.
